Hi there. You know me.
OK, so this is set AT LEAST one millenia from our current time, correct? So the Earth would have experience mass changes, like Transportation and City Sculpture, etc. So that means everything would be futurized, correct?
I mean like, even weapons. Wouldn't they have something a little more advanced? I mean, crowbars get the job done, sure, I can see that. But dothey need crowbars in the future?
I'm just a bit foncunfused.

no, this is not too far in the future. I noticed you have a tendency to rush into things without having any former knowledge, and I suggest you do so to try and avoid future conflict.
Saying that, you should probably read through the library to get a grasp of all the rules and locations and such. Specifically to answer your question, you should probably look in the "PLOT" section

Oh, yeah. I did read the plot... and everything else before I posted this. o.o
Kay, I got the 'distant' future idea from here.
So in the next paragraph, it says
So in the distant future (which I take as a distant future from present day) everything is chill in the world. THEN half a millennium passes (meaning 500+ years) and the meteor hits. So it's 500+ years from today so far.
Then you say:
So far, the total number of years that have passed are around 520 (maybe more considering how 'distant' the future in the beginning was).
That's quite far ahead in the future. I mean, if you think about it, Human Civilization has had a DRAMATIC increase of intelligence and technological advancements since 1500. So tack on another 500 or so years, and you'd expect a lot more advancement.
Didn't mean to strike a nerve with the question, I just didn't think everything exactly fit.

well, we said distant future because then it would allow us some leeway in terms of plot. We kept the weapons the same to give it more realism as well for many other reasons.
also, because of the dramatic destruction of the population, we're assuming that what is left of the civilization is vague weapons of the past. If we make the weapons too powerful, then it'll completely destroy the feeling of which we are trying to obtain.
moreover, we don't know if our technology now is as far as we're ever going to reach, so we're making the assumption that we hadn't advanced any further than we had today.
In short: just go with the flow.

Ah. The decay of normal civilization would put a halt on things like advancement.
Thanks for clearing that up! I was more than a bit confused. ^^
